You can use the NowGo dashboard to manage your fleet's capacity and make sure jobs are assigned to the most appropriate vehicles. You can add and update a vehicle's capacity and other attributes to make sure your delivery operations continue to run smoothly.
This article is about managing vehicle capacities in the NowGo settings. For information about adding and editing individual vehicles, see the Add and edit vehicles article.
About vehicle capacities
Capacities refer to the maximum amount of goods that a vehicle can carry. These are fully configurable, but some common vehicle capacity types are:
Weight: the total weight that a vehicle can carry
Volume: the total volume that a vehicle can carry
Parcel count: the total number of parcels that a vehicle can carry
By keeping your vehicle capacity accurate and updated, you can ensure that a feasible amount of work is allocated to the vehicle at any time during a shift. It can also help you understand how vehicles are used through the day, to maximise your vehicle capacity wherever possible.
Add vehicle capacities
You can add a capacity to a vehicle in your NowGo dashboard.
Adding a capacity
In the NowGo dashboard, click your email address in the top right corner, and select Settings.
Navigate to Capacities and attributes → Capacities section, and click Add new capacity.
In the capacity settings screen:
In the Name field, type a name for the new capacity. For example, Weight.
Optional: In the External reference section, type a unique identifier for the capacity. For example, kg might indicate that the value is a weight, provided in kilograms.
In the Capacity unit section, select an appropriate unit to use when displaying the capacity in the dashboard and the driver app. For example, Kilograms.
Optional: In the Service time per unit section, type a number of seconds to add to a job. For example, loading one kilogram might add 20 seconds to a job.
In the Vehicles without this capacity specified section, select the appropriate option for vehicles that do not have this capacity. For example, vehicles that do not have this capacity set can be treated as having no capacity, or unlimited capacity.
Click Save new to save the changes and return to the settings screen.
When you have set a capacity, you can assign it to a vehicle in your NowGo dashboard.
Configure vehicle capacity
In the NowGo dashboard, click Resourcing.
In the Vehicles tab, locate the vehicle you want to add a capacity for and click the Edit icon to open the Edit vehicle screen.
In the Capacities section, click Add new to apply a new capacity to the selected vehicle.
For the new entry:
Select the type of capacity to add. For example, Weight.
Type the limit for the capacity as a whole number. For example, 900000000.
Click Save changes to save the changes and return to the vehicle list.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: You must use whole numbers to indicate the capacity, you can't use decimals. If you expect that you need to use fractions of a number, reduce the measure for the capacity. For example, if you are using cubic metres, and are likely to want to use fractions of a cubic metre, change your capacity to use cubic centimetres instead.
About vehicle attributes
Attributes refer to additional features of a vehicle. Not all vehicles are created equal and it is likely that your fleet has different vehicles with different setups, tools, and abilities. This can include things like tail lifts, refrigeration, and cranes.
Attributes can be defined as a boolean, or as a number. For attributes such as a tail lift or a crane, use a boolean, so a vehicle can either have the attribute, or not. Some attributes can be expressed as a number, such as a refrigerated truck, which can be expressed as the number of degrees at which it maintains temperatures. This can help you ensure you are assigning jobs to appropriate vehicles. For example, for jobs that require freezing, you can ensure you are assigning jobs to a vehicle that maintains temperatures at -10℃.
You can include these features as vehicle attributes to make sure that jobs with special requirements are allocated to the appropriate vehicle.
Add vehicle attributes
You can add an attribute to a vehicle in your NowGo dashboard.
Adding an attribute
In the NowGo dashboard, click your email address in the top right corner, and select Settings.
Navigate to Capacities and attributes → Attributes section, and click Add new attribute type.

In the External reference section, type a unique identifier for the attribute. For example, temp_c might indicate that the value is the temperature in celsius.
In the Attribute type section, select Boolean if this attribute can be only true or false, or select Numeric if the attribute can be represented by a number.
Click Save new to save the changes and return to the settings screen.
