You might get to the end of your shift, but still have undelivered items in your vehicle. If you still have jobs left when your shift ends, you have a few different options. This article goes through the options available to you, and how to best handle these undelivered jobs.
Finishing a shift with undelivered jobs
If you can’t deliver everything you have in your vehicle before the end of your shift, there are a few options. You can either take the leftover items to a depot or other specific registered location and unload them from your vehicle, or you can keep them loaded, and automatically carry the work over to your next shift. Alternatively, you can choose to offboard some items, and carry other items over to your next shift.
💡NOTE: NowGo is a highly configurable platform. Your version of the app might look different, or have slightly different functionality to that shown here. If you have any questions or concerns about using the app, get in touch.
Offboard undelivered jobs
You might need to offboard your jobs so that a different driver can complete them, or because it is your organisation's policy that goods need to be stored in a depot or other specific location.
Carry jobs over to the next shift
Carrying jobs over to the next shift is useful if you are going to have another shift soon, and want to pick up where you left off.
It is especially useful if you have packed your vehicle according to the order you intend to deliver the jobs in. In this case, you can finish delivering the previous deliveries on your next shift, before onboarding new deliveries in the correct order.
Offboard undelivered jobs
You can use your mobile app to drop off any undelivered jobs to a depot or other registered location at the end of your shift.
Offboarding undelivered jobs
Drive to the offboarding location, which is usually your depot, or another registered location.
In the driver app, open the kebab menu, and tap Actions. In the Actions menu, tap Offboard.
Scan the items you want to offboard, and tap the green Offboard button.
Carry jobs over to the next shift
If your organisation is set up to carry jobs over at the end of your shift, all jobs that have not been completed or offboarded are automatically assigned to you when you start your next shift.
Jobs are automatically carried over if:
The previous shift has ended
The previous shift ended less than 14 days ago
The previous shift had the carry-over option enabled
When work is carried over to the next shift, it stays in the same sequence as the previous shift. Jobs that have been carried over keep their original time windows, but are scheduled after the start of the shift that they are carried over into. You can re-sequence your jobs at any time, if you need to. For more information about sequencing, see the Sequencing jobs article.
